Catskill/Delaware UV Facility Opening Ceremony

TrojanUVTorrent system

We custom-designed our TrojanUVTorrent in order to meet the challenging design parameters of the New York City drinking water project.

Today marks the official opening of the New York City Catskill/Delaware UV Treatment facility. With the capacity to treat over two billion gallons of water per day, this is the largest drinking water UV installation in the world. We are proud to be a part of this groundbreaking project.

The Facility

In 2005, we were selected as the manufacturer for the UV portion of the project. In 2009 and 2010, we delivered 56 TrojanUVTorrent® chambers to the Catskill/Delaware UV Facility. Each unit is capable of delivering a 40 mJ/cm 2 dose to 40 million gallons of water per day (MGD).

This inactivation requirement, set by the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, delivers greater than 3-log reduction of microorganisms, such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. We custom-designed our TrojanUVTorrent in order to meet the challenging design parameters of this unique project.

The Catskill/Delaware UV Facility is located in Valhalla, New York. The treatment train consists of screening, UV treatment, and chlorination (for a residual chemical in the distribution system).
